San Mateo Marina Lagoon
Parkside Aquatic Park
Parkside Aquatic Park is on the San Mateo side of Marina Lagoon, the lagoon which borders Foster City to the west. See map below. Marina Lagoon is the only lagoon near Foster City where you can take a gas-powered motorboat and go water skiing. Check out San Mateo’s detailed regulations & map, especially if you are going power boating. The Marina Lagoon is also the site of the BAIR Island Fall Rowing Regatta each November.
Aquatic Park has a quarter-mile long sand swimming beach, playground, picnic area, rental kayaks, fishing, and boat launch ramp. Marina Lagoon does sometimes have problems with water quality so be careful to check the signs first if you plan to go swimming. But, even though it is not as pristine as most Foster City parks the lagoon is still nice. By the way, parking is sometimes tight and the beach can get crowded on hot summer weekends.
